Saturday, 26 January 2019 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM EST

Our first event of the year is to celebrate our culture and our health, with two amazing activities occurring simultaneously:

On Saturday, January 26, 2019, we will be hosting Latinas Unidas: Nuestra Cultura, Nuestra Salud at St. Michael's Church with two amazing activities happening during this event.

Nuestra Cultura

For our culture, we will be celebrating the 3 Kings Day at St. Michael's Hall from 10 am to 12:00 pm. A storyteller will narrate the story of this tradition. Enjoy food and music. The 3 Kings will arrive and bring gifts for children up to age twelve (12).

Please note that a responsible adult must remain with the children at all times.

Nuestra Salud

To celebrate our good health, from 9 am to 1 pm Rochester Regional Health will be providing FREE mammograms (breast cancer screenings) for women over 40 in their exclusive coach, equipped with the latest technology. Health professionals staff the Mobile Mammography Center and screenings are done privately. It will be parked at the church's parking lot.

Mammograms are done every 15 minutes, so at the time of registration please indicate what time slot you would prefer. We will do our best to schedule you at that time (first come-first serve).

FREE blood pressure screenings will also be provided.

In a world of uncertainty, this we can be sure of, Latinas Unidas continues to help strengthen Latina women in our community.  By taking care of our health, we invest in our potential.  By taking care of our traditions, we invest in our future.  I hope you join us at the Latinas Unidas: Nuestra Cultura, Nuestra Salud.

Latinas Unidas is a non-profit organization dedicated to uniting Latina women from different segments of the Greater Rochester Area, who share common concerns and interest affecting Latina Women. Café Con Leche is Latinas Unidas signature networking series. Held several times throughout the year, these events are an opportunity to bring to our members and guests a place to make contact with like-minded women, learn and share interesting and current information in a friendly setting. Since 2002, Latinas Unidas has awarded over $80,000 in scholarships to non-traditional college-age Latinas enrolled in higher education or in a formal training. The scholarships have had significant impact in the lives of the recipients; helping them overcome financial barriers related to tuition or education-related costs.
